titleOfInvention An optical mechanism with indexing stage with at least one fixed diameter apodized aperture and method of making same
abstract The optical device for a camera having a camera aperture includes an indexing stage movable between at least two discrete positions. At least a first fixed diameter, apodized aperture is mounted to the stage and aligned with the camera aperture at one of the discrete locations of the indexing stage, and wherein the apodized aperture of the first fixed diameter is positioned It is not aligned with the camera aperture in others. The stage may include several fixed diameter apertured apertures each having a respective effective diameter that can be selectively aligned with the camera aperture. The mechanism includes an actuator for moving the stage between each of the individual positions. A method for mass production of a fixed diameter apertured aperture using dye diffusion to an optical element through various methods, various casting and molding techniques is disclosed.
