abstract The present invention relates generally to compositions comprising Au, especially for use as a paint. In particular, it relates to compositions, processes for providing colored surfaces, and items comprising colored surfaces. The present invention provides a composition comprising the following components: a. At least about 30 weight percent organic vehicle; b. From about 0.5 to about 35 weight percent Au, the Au being present in the composition in the form of an Au organic compound; c. About 0.1 to about 10 weight percent of a tetravalent metal, said tetravalent metal being present in said composition in the form of a tetravalent metal organic compound; d. About 0 to about 6 wt.% Bi, and Bi is present in the composition in the form of Bi organic compound, wherein wt.% Is based on the total weight of the composition.
