abstract |
The thermal transfer donor element has a polymeric support coated with at least a portion thereof as a heat transferable protective transparent film. The film comprises (1) a poly (vinyl acetal) in an amount of at least 50-70 wt%, (2) a second polymer, and (3) colloidal silica. (B) the weight ratio of the poly (vinyl acetal) to the second polymer is greater than or equal to 5: 1 and less than or equal to 12: 1, and (c) the molecular weight of the second polymer is greater than the molecular weight of the poly (vinyl acetal) Wherein the weight ratio of colloidal silica to second polymer is from 1.5: 1 to 3: 1, and (d) the amount of colloidal silica is from 10% to 20% by weight, based on the total dry weight of the heat transferable protective transparent film . |
