Alkali metal titanium oxide and titanium oxide having a novel shape and being industrially advantageous are provided. An alkali metal titanium oxide having a shape of secondary particles in which primary particles having an anisotropic structure are aggregated and obtained by firing a porous titanium compound particle impregnated with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal containing component in pores and on the surface thereof, Titanium oxide. Secondary particles are industrially advantageous in that they can take a further flocculated structure, have an appropriate size, and are easy to handle. In particular, H 2 Ti 12 O 25 of the present invention is a lithium secondary battery electrode material having a high capacity and excellent initial charging / discharging efficiency and cycle characteristics, and has a very practical value. |
