A first compound having an atom in the oxidized state is reacted with a bis (trimethylsilyl) 6-membered ring system or a related compound to form a second compound having atoms in a reduced state relative to the first compound. The atoms in the oxidized state are selected from the group consisting of lanthanide elements of Groups 2 to 12 of the periodic table, As, Sb, Bi, Te, Si, Ge, Sn and Al. |
