abstract (1) is obtained by mixing molten pitches with fine particles (A) made of a material containing at least one of Si, Sn, Al, Ge, or In, a step of crushing the mixture (1) , A step of dry mixing the carbon particles (B) in the pulverized product (2a) to obtain a mixture (3a), and a step of calcining and then pulverizing the mixture (3a) (A) containing carbon particles (B), which comprises adding carbon particles (B) to carbon particles (B) and mixing and pulverizing them dry to obtain pulverized material (2b) (B). By using the composite obtained by this method for the negative electrode material of a lithium ion battery, a lithium ion battery having a large capacity and excellent charge / discharge cycle characteristics can be obtained.
