abstract Provided is a method for purifying an aliphatic polyester that reduces coloration of an aliphatic polyester and reduces the amount of a residual monomer or a residual catalyst to improve stability and appearance. A process for refining an aliphatic polyester in which an aliphatic polyester containing a monomer is subjected to a heat treatment under an oxygen-containing dry gas at a temperature not lower than the melting point of the monomer but not higher than the melting point of the aliphatic polyester.
