An illumination system, method and device for protecting a person's periodic neuroendocrine function during night use has been described. Suitable lighting conditions can be provided for the working environment, while protecting the person's cyclic neuroendocrine system in the work area illuminated during the night. Illumination systems, methods, and devices can provide substantial attenuation of the pathologic periodic disruption of night shift workers. Lighting systems, methods, and devices can attenuate certain bands of light that cause cyclic chaos. LED lighting systems, methods, and devices can provide increased intensity in portions of different spectra than conventional LEDs, providing white light that is available even when unwanted portions of the wavelength are attenuated by a notch filter. LED lighting systems, methods and devices can switch between daytime configuration and night time configuration, daytime configuration provides unfiltered light and nighttime configuration provides filtered light. |
