abstract |
The present invention relates to a method for preparing azithromycin, comprising the steps of: preparing a concentrated aqueous formulation of azithromycin at about 2% -20%; preparing and sterilizing a first solution comprising a strong base to produce a sterilized solution; In an aqueous solution comprising the acid and a step of adding an aqueous solution comprising the strong acid to a sterile solution comprising a strong base to provide a concentrated aqueous formulation of azithromycin do. The strong acid has a pKa of less than about -1.74 and the process is carried out without the addition of weak acids or without the use of weak acids. |
