abstract What is disclosed herein is a DKP microcrystalline prepared by an improved process that does not irreversibly self-assemble into microparticles. The microcrystallization can be dispersed by atomization and reformed by spray drying to be particles having a spherical shell shape. The active agents and excipients may be incorporated into the particles by spray drying a solution containing the ingredients incorporated into the microcrystalline diketopiperazine particles. In particular, the microcrystalline particle composition is suitable for delivery of the spent drug of one or more peptides, proteins, nucleic acids and / or organic molecules.
