titleOfInvention | The pharmaceutical compositions for prevention or treatment of JMJD-related diseases containing clioquinol or its derivatives as a active ingredient |
abstract | The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition or a kit for inhibiting JMJD enzyme activity for the prevention and treatment of JMJD-related diseases comprising clinoquinol or a derivative thereof or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. Also provided is a method for inhibiting the enzyme activity of JMJD by treating a pharmaceutically effective amount of a quinoquinol or a derivative thereof and a method for screening a JMJD modulator. In the present invention, the expression of various JMJD genes is increased upon treatment with the quinoquinol or a derivative thereof, but the amount of methylated histone is increased by suppressing the demethylating enzyme activity of the JMJD proteins. Such a composition containing a quinoquin or a derivative thereof inhibiting JMJD protein activity may be useful as a therapeutic agent for JMJD-related diseases, particularly cancer, autoimmune diseases or osteoporosis. |
