The present invention relates to a method for optimizing a layered catalyst process. This is accomplished by testing the various catalysts and the compounds identified in the feedstock to be tested to determine the function of the catalyst in hydrogenation, hydrodesulfurization, or hydrodenitrogenation of the molecules. In a preferred embodiment, the double bond equivalent of the feedstock and the molecule is determined and the catalyst is pre-selected based on their known ability to work with the material of this DBE value. |
