The present invention provides methods of making and using a peripheral limiting inhibitor of fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH). The present invention provides compounds and compositions that inhibit FAAH activity and increase ananamide levels outside the central nervous system (CNS). The present invention also provides a method for the treatment of conditions such as pain, inflammation, immune diseases, dermatitis, mucositis, hypersensitivity to peripheral sensory neurons, neurodermatitis and irritable bladder as well as methods of inhibiting FAAH, including but not limited to this. Thus, the present invention also provides compounds, methods and pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of conditions wherein selective inhibition of peripheral FAAH (as opposed to CNS FAAH) is useful. |
