In one aspect, the present invention provides a first article comprising a nanostructured whisker, the article having a first layer comprising an organometallic compound comprising at least one of Ru or Ir on the nanostructured whisker, do. Optionally, the first layer further comprises an organometallic complex comprising at least one of Ru or Ir. Typically, the article comprises at least one additional layer (e.g., a second layer comprising at least one of a metal Ir, Ir oxide, or Ir hydrated oxide on the first layer). The articles disclosed herein are useful, for example, in fuel cell catalysts (i.e., anode or cathode catalysts). |
