The present invention contemplates a method of stably integrating exogenous DNA into E32, a unique locus of Maize genomes, by using zinc finger nuclease. The maze plants and plant parts transformed by the method of the present invention are claimed. The present invention is useful in Maze to form desirable traits such as herbicide resistance, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, insect resistance, disease resistance, disease resistance, stress tolerance, and stress resistance. Because the native crop phenotype is unimpeded, the E32 locus is an excellent site for insertion of foreign genes. |
