A method for producing a polyarylenesulfide resin excellent in reactivity with other compounds or resins such as an epoxy silane coupling agent and an impact resistance improver such as a functional group-containing thermoplastic elastomer and a method for producing a polyarylene sulfide resin which does not contain a chlorine atom It is an object of the present invention to provide a polyarylene sulfide resin composition having excellent reactivity. A process for producing a polyarylenesulfide resin characterized in that a mixture containing a diiodo aromatic compound, a sulfur compound and a polymerization inhibitor having a specific functional group is subjected to a polymerization reaction.
