titleOfInvention | Poly(dihydroferulic acid) a biorenewable polyethylene terephthalate mimic derived from lignin and acetic acid and copolymers thereof |
abstract | Embodiments of the present invention are directed to biodegradable thermoplastic poly (dihydroperic acid) (PHFA) which is an effective polyethylene terephthalate (PET) analog. In another embodiment of the invention, the poly (dihydroperic acid-co-ferric acid), a bioregradable thermoplastic copolymer, is an effective polystyrene analog. PHFA and said copolymers can be prepared by homo condensation of acetyl dihydroperic acid or copolymerization of acetyl dihydroperic acid with acetyl ferric acid (monomers that can be synthesized from starting material isolated from lignin, rice bran or other bioregenerable sources) . |
