abstract |
Methods and systems for measuring and using the oxidation-reduction properties of biological samples are provided. The system generally includes a test strip and a readout device. A fluid sample is placed on the test strip and the test strip is operatively connected to the reading device in turn. The reading device provides a controlled current that is transmitted through the fluid in the sample chamber. The reading device also identifies the inflection point or transition time at which the voltage across the contacts of the test strip changes at a high rate. The oxidation-reduction capacity of the sample is integrated with the current profile from the time at which it is supplied to the sample at the identified switching time. |
