abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for producing lithium titanate comprising the steps of synthesizing a lithium titanium hydrate intermediate. The present invention relates to a process for producing lithium titanate comprising the steps of synthesizing a lithium titanium hydrate intermediate through aqueous chemical processing and heat treating the lithium titanium hydrate intermediate to produce lithium titanate. The lithium titanium hydrate is preferably (Li 1.81 H 0.19 ) Ti 2 O. << 2H 2 O. The lithium titanate is preferably Li 4 Ti 5 O 12 (LTO). The step of synthesizing the lithium titanium hydrate intermediate may comprise mixing the lithium-containing compound and the titanium-containing compound in a solvent to produce a lithium-titanium precursor mixture. Preferably, the titanium-containing compound comprises titanium tetrachloride (TiCl 4 ). The present invention also relates to a lithium battery comprising lithium titanate and lithium titanate obtained according to the process. |
