abstract |
This disclosure relates to polymeric siloxane-coated zinc oxide powders having an average particle size distribution (D50) in the range of about 300 nm to about 600 nm, and their use in sunscreen compositions. The relatively large surface area (relative to <100 nm of the particles) results in ease of formulation and high particle dispersibility by preventing aggregation, leading to less light scattering and hence better transparency in the formulation. Further, the combination of zinc oxide and bis (resorcinyl) triazine UV absorber having a specific particle size distribution (D50) in the above-mentioned range can be obtained by adding zinc oxide and bisresorcinyltriazine UV absorber itself Gt; UV-A < / RTI > absorbance (320 to 400 nm) when compared to the control. |
