A process for the preparation of a fluorine-containing carboxylic acid ester is described wherein the salt of the carboxylic acid is reacted with a fluorinated alkyl halide. The fluorine-containing carboxylic acid ester produced by the method described in this specification is particularly useful as an electrolyte solvent for an electrochemical cell such as a lithium ion battery in which a high purity solvent is required. |
