An electrochemical device includes one or more anodes, cathodes, and separators. Also, in some embodiments, the separator is an electrolyte. Moreover, it has two or more current collectors. The anode and the cathode are between two current collectors, each of which is bonded to an adjacent current collector. The separator is between the anode and the cathode and is bonded to the anode and the cathode. The current collectors are barriers and are bonded together to create a sealed vessel for the anode, cathode, and separator. The electrochemical device may be integrated into a composite panel suitable for applications such as structural load bearing panels or sheets for aircraft wings or fuselage, composite gloves, torpedoes, missile bodies, consumer electronics, and the like. The electrochemical device includes, but is not limited to, an energy storage (batteries, supercapacitors) and an energy generator (fuel cells). |
