abstract It is an object of the present invention to provide a polarizing film having a high dichroic ratio. As a means for solving the above problems, there is provided a polarizing film comprising a disazo compound represented by the following formula (1). In the formula (1), Q represents a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group having a heterocyclic ring, the non-adjacent carbon atom may be substituted with a nitrogen atom, and R 1 represents an alkyl group R 2 represents hydrogen, an acetyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted benzoyl group, n represents 1 or 2, and M represents a counter ion.
