titleOfInvention The method for preparing ferronickel slag absorbent materials for removing perchlorinated compounds in waste water and removing perchlorinated compounds using the ferronickel slag absorbent materials
abstract The present invention relates to a method for preparing a ferronickel slag adsorbent for removing a perfluorinated compound from waste water. More particularly, the present invention comprises a pulverizing step to pulverize ferronickel slag to shape into a fine powder form; an acid treatment step to treat the ferronickel slag in a fine powder form with an acid and to wash with distilled water; a base treatment step to treat the acid-treated ferronickel slag with a base and to wash with distilled water; and a heat-treatment step to treat the base-treated ferronickel slag with heat. In the present invention, since perfluorinated compounds, i.e., perfluorooctane sulfonate (hereinafter, PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (hereinafter, PFOA) included in waste water are removed by using adequately treated cheap ferronickel slag released during an iron manufacturing process as a byproduct, the iron manufacturing byproduct that is considered as waste can be recycled at low cost.
