titleOfInvention | Method of removal of calcium from hydrocarbon feedstock |
abstract | The present invention relates to the field where a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising crude oil is treated, wherein metal such as calcium is removed. Faced with rising oil prices, refineries are forced to handle opportunity crudes such as DOBA, where low-quality crude oil is produced from a number of factors including fouling of equipment due to certain metal salts such as calcium naphthenate I have problems. Calcium, which can not be removed from crude oil during conventional desalination processes, has very serious problems. The present invention provides a process for removing calcium, wherein the crude oil comprises an effective amount of metal removal of an additive comprising a chemical compound selected from the group consisting of a metal acid, maleic anhydride, fumaric acid, or a salt or derivative thereof The aqueous solution containing the metal ion and the hydrocarbonaceous phase can be separated in the desalination apparatus by mixing with the extraction aqueous solution. Only the calcium-free hydrocarbon phase is further treated, thereby preventing fouling of the equipment. |
