abstract An apparatus and method for forming an epoxide compound are provided. In one embodiment, there is provided a process for preparing a multi-phase reaction mixture comprising: adding an oxidizing agent, a water soluble manganese complex and a terminal olefin to form a multiphasic reaction mixture; reacting the oxidant with a terminal olefin in a multiphase reaction mixture having at least one organic phase in the presence of a water- , Separating the reaction mixture into at least one organic phase and an aqueous phase, and reusing at least a portion of the aqueous phase. The invention also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method.
