titleOfInvention Lithium secondary battery including phase change material
abstract The present invention relates to a lithium secondary battery including a phase change material, and more particularly, to an electrode assembly including a cathode, an anode, and a separator interposed between the cathode and the anode; A battery case formed to surround the outside of the electrode assembly; A nonaqueous electrolyte injected into the battery case to impregnate the electrode assembly; And a phase change material (PCM) existing inside the battery case. The lithium secondary battery according to the present invention contains a phase change material therein, accumulates ambient heat under a high temperature environment, gradually changes phase from liquid to solid as the temperature around the lithium ion secondary battery decreases , The heat is radiated to the outside of the system of the phase change material so that the IR drop can be minimized even in a low temperature environment, thereby enabling a high rate discharge. This makes it possible to use the battery without preheating even in a low-temperature environment.
