abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for producing neopentyl glycol (2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dihydroxypropane). In the present invention, in the hydrogenation reaction for producing neopentyl glycol, a hydrogenation reaction is effectively carried out by using a secondary alcohol which produces hydrogen ions during the reaction as a reaction solvent without using high pressure hydrogen gas as in the conventional technology . The present invention proposes a solution to the problem of not only an increased risk due to the use of high-pressure hydrogen gas but also a cost increase factor of manufacturing and maintaining all related manufacturing apparatuses for high-pressure use. |
