Biocompatible-adsorptive, such as protein-adsorptive, materials are prepared by forming a polymeric substrate with a structure having a high surface area topography, wherein the adsorption characteristics of the biocidal agent can be controlled. Bioproduct adsorption by these structures of optimized high surface topography is increased substantially by modifying the surface lightly, e.g., by oxygen plasma, without altering the topography. The structure may have a customized geometric feature including a microstructure, e.g., a pillar, having a diameter of 100 nm to 50 占 퐉 and a height of more than 1 占 퐉. |
