System for storage and transportation of spent nuclear fuel |
abstract |
The concrete storage module 26 is adjusted to slidably receive the cylindrical canister assembly 12 therein. The heat dissipation fin 62 and the tubular heat shield 96 are disposed within the module to assist in dissipating the heat emitted from the fuel assembly stored within the canister into the airflow through the module. The canister assembly 12 consists of a multi-layered plate arranged in a cross or egg shell configuration. The single port tool 106 is provided to drain water from the canister 12 and replace the emitted fire with makeup gas. The single port tool is mounted in the cover 100 of the canister and is fluidly connected to the interior of the canister. |
