abstract The valve assembly 1 controls the flow of fluid through the fluid passages. The valve assembly 1 includes a valve body 2 having a bore and a spindle 20 housed in the bore and operated to open and close the valve. The spindle 20 has an upstream end in the axial direction and a downstream end in the opposite direction provided toward the fluid passage. The first chamber 50 is provided on the spindle between the spindle and the bore and the biasing element 64 is provided to apply an axial compressive force to the sealing element 50. The biasing element 64 is positioned in the valve body 2 so as to be between the spindle 200 and the bore on the downstream side of the chamber so that a more direct compression force is applied to the chamber for improved sealing efficiency.
