Oxidative desulfurization in a fluid catalytic cracking process |
abstract |
There is provided a method for catalytically decomposing and oxidatively desulfurizing a hydrocarbon feedstock containing an organic sulfur compound. An oxygen-containing gas is introduced with the cracking catalyst and the feed to form a suspension. At least a portion of the organic sulfur compounds in the hydrocarbon feedstock are oxidized to form oxidized organosulfur compounds and the carbon-sulfur bonds of the oxidized organosulfur compounds are cleaved to form the sulfur-free hydrocarbon compounds and sulfur oxides, The oxidized compound is catalytically decomposed into a hydrocarbon compound having a lower boiling point. The decomposed components and the decomposition catalyst particles are separated and recovered for regeneration and reuse. |
