titleOfInvention | Method for detecting and distinguishing virus species of the genus curtovirus using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism |
abstract | The present invention relates to a method for detecting and distinguishing a beet curly top virus, a beet severe curly top virus, and a beet mild curly top virus which are viruses of the genus curtovirus using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for detecting and distinguishing each of the viruses by confirming pieces after treating DraI, which is a restriction enzyme, on a byproduct that is amplified using a primer set for PCR that can amplify all of the three viruses. By means of the method according to the present invention, three species of the curtovirus can be effectively diagnosed and distinguished within a short period of time without high-priced technical equipment such as sequence analysis equipment. The species are not reported to have occurred in Korea but the viruses often occur in major agricultural importers including North America. Accordingly, the curtovirus that can severely damage farms is rapidly and accurately detected in a preemptive plant quarantine step so that a huge economical loss can be remarkably reduced. |
