abstract The phosphor according to this embodiment is generally represented by (M 1 - x EC x ) a Si b AlO c N d , and is a kind of Sr 2 Si 7 Al 3 ON 13 phosphors. This material is in the form of crystals having an average particle diameter of 20 to 100 mu m and an aspect ratio in the range of 2 to 4. This material emits luminescence having a peak in the 580 to 660 nm wavelength range when excited by light in the 250 to 500 nm wavelength range. This embodiment also provides a light emitting device in which the material, the green light emitting phosphor and the light emitting element are combined.
