abstract | The present invention relates to a food composition for improving skin health containing an extract of Nelumbo nucifera having a whitening effect and a skin aging preventing and ameliorating effect as an active ingredient; and to a medicinal herb health food using the same. The extract of Nelumbo nucifera is prepared by drying Nelumbo nucifera (Nelumbo nucifera flowers and Nelumbo nucifera roots), obtaining an extract by repeating hot-water extraction using water containing purified water with ten times of dry weight three times at an extraction temperature of 80-100°C for 3 hours or reflux-cooling extraction using an ethanol solvent three times at an extraction temperature of 60-80°C for 3 hours, and performing filtering under reduced pressure and then freeze-drying, thereby obtaining a final extract. The medicinal herb health food according to the present invention is characterized by comprising 7.8 parts by weight of the extract of Nelumbo nucifera or dried Nelumbo nucifera flowers (or an extract of Nelumbo nucifera roots or dried Nelumbo nucifera), 7.8 parts by weight of ginseng, 7.8 parts by weight of Poria cocos, 22.6 parts by weight of Rehmannia glutinosa, and 51.0 parts by weight of honey. The food composition for improving skin health containing an extract of Nelumbo nucifera as an active ingredient and the medicinal herb health food using the same according to the present invention have effects of ameliorating skin darkening and preventing the loss of skin elasticity and the skin aging. |
