abstract The present invention relates to a novel method for producing somatic chimeras of algae using cells isolated from bone marrow of adult algae as donor cells. According to the method of the present invention, somatic cell chimeras of birds can be easily produced using stem cells derived from adult rather than germline cells or embryonic stem cells. According to the method of the present invention, not only can the algal chimera be easily produced as a bioreactor, but also can be usefully used for algal developmental biology research.
