abstract |
Extruded isomerization catalysts comprising MgO, metal silicate clay binders and stabilizers and methods of forming such isomerization catalysts are described. Also described is an isomerization catalyst exhibiting an aging isomerization ratio that is at least 50% of the fresh isomerization ratio and the fresh isomerization ratio. Embodiments of the isomerization catalysts described herein include metal silicate clay binders including layered structures and metal silicates. The metal silicate clay binder may be present in an amount of about 5 wt% to about 20 wt%. Exemplary stabilizers include one or more of ZrO 2 , tetravalent rare earth metals, and trivalent rare earth metals. Stabilizers may be present in amounts up to about 40 wt%. One or more improved properties such as piece grinding strength and isomerization performance appear in the catalyst article. |
