titleOfInvention System and method for adaptive audio signal generation, coding and rendering
abstract Embodiments for an adaptive audio system for processing audio data comprising a plurality of independent monophonic audio streams are described. One or more streams associated with the metadata specifying whether the stream is a channel-based or an object-based stream. Channel-based streams have rendering information encoded as a means of channel names; The object-based streams have location information encoded over location representations encoded in the associated metadata. The codec packages independent audio streams into a single serial bitstream containing all audio data. This arrangement allows the sound to be rendered in accordance with the other reference frame based on characteristics of the playback environment (e.g., room size, appearance, etc.) so that the rendering position of the sound corresponds to the intent of the mixer. The object location metadata includes appropriate hit centered reference frame information required to accurately reproduce the sound using the available speaker positions of the room set up to play the adaptive audio content.
