Polyvinyl Alcohol Resin and Manufacturing Method Thereof |
abstract |
The present invention provides a polyvinyl alcohol resin having excellent handleability and hardly generating residues when dissolved in water and a method of producing the same. The polyvinyl alcohol resin slurry obtained through the polymerization step (step S1) and the saponification step (step S2) is heated to 100 to 170 degrees to make the contained volatile component 1 mass% or less (step S3). . Thereafter, the resin from which the volatile components are removed is extruded using a mold having a hole having a diameter of 3 to 8 mm to have a strand shape, and the resin after extrusion is air cooled or air cooled until the temperature reaches 45 degrees or less ( Step S4). The resin after cooling is pulverized to obtain rod-shaped particles having a length of 1 to 10 mm and a maximum diameter of 0.5 to 3.0 mm (step S5). |
