abstract |
The present invention provides a waterborne coating system that can be used to form a durable, wear resistant, tough protective coating on a wide range of substrates. The coating system advantageously has excellent adhesion properties and can be coated directly on the stainless steel surface without the need for intervening primer layers. However, primer layers or other types of coatings can be used in combination with the coating system of the present invention if desired. Coating systems are particularly effective at protecting metal-containing substrates such as composite refrigerated cargo containers. The resulting coating is flexible and impact resistant. The coating composition is an aqueous composition and therefore has a lower VOC emissions and less residual odor than a solvent based composition. |
