Urine Marker for Bladder Cancer Detection |
abstract |
Early detection of tumors is an important factor in determining the lifespan of patients suffering from tumor diseases, including bladder tumors. Markers that are members of the BTM or UBTM group are highly and consistently accumulating in bladder tumor tissues and other tumor tissues and / or accumulating in the urine of patients and thus are markers of bladder cancer and other cancers. In some embodiments BTM or UBTM accumulates in the urine, so UBTM group markers are an effective approach to diagnosis. In other embodiments, quantitative PCR methods are advantageous over microarray analysis. In another embodiment, multiple BTMs or UBTMs can be detected and quantified to increase diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of bladder cancer, providing a method for determining the stage and type of bladder cancer. A kit for easily and conveniently performing the detection method of the present invention is also provided. |
