abstract Absorbent composites can be made by applying a flexible absorbent binder polymer (FAB), also referred to herein as a flexible superabsorbent, during the creping step of conventional tissue making. Therefore, an expensive process of application and subsequent drying of the FAB to the substrate by spraying or printing can be eliminated. The creping step has the added advantage of improving the flexibility and softness of FAB treated fibrous webs.
