abstract | The present invention provides a high-efficiency red phosphor and a method of manufacturing the same, providing a white light source and an illumination device capable of pure white illumination by using the red phosphor, and furthermore, providing a liquid crystal display having good color reproducibility. The element A, europium (Eu), silicon (Si), carbon (C), oxygen (O) and nitrogen (N) are contained in the atomic ratio of the following composition formula (1). However, in composition formula (1), element A is a group 2 element containing calcium (Ca) and strontium (Sr) at least.
