abstract |
A method and composition for cleaning turbine engine components (10) during maintenance. Embodiments of the invention include a slurry 22 or colloidal mixture of nanoparticles. The slurry can be non-toxic and can provide optimal cleaning of the fine surface exposed gaps 18 of the components and solder joints. When the colloidal mixture is a polar solvent, the pH of the slurry is maintained at about 5-9 and at the isoelectric point of the nanoparticles to minimize or prevent condensation. When the colloidal mixture is a nonpolar solvent, condensation is minimized or prevented by the use of surfactant additives. |
