The present invention relates to a lithium secondary battery and a method of manufacturing the same. More specifically, the present invention includes an electrode assembly having a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte impregnated in the electrode assembly, wherein the separator has at least one surface in contact with the positive electrode and the negative electrode. A plurality of broken capsules are further disposed in a layer, wherein the film of the capsule provides a lithium secondary battery formed of a binder polymer in which inorganic particles are dispersed. The lithium secondary battery of the present invention does not require a separate injection process of the nonaqueous electrolyte, and the mechanical properties of the separator and the safety of the battery are improved. |
