abstract | PURPOSE: A bioreactor containing immobilized glutamate decarboxylase is provided to produce GABA(gamma-aminobutyric acid) of high efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A bioreactor contains glutamate decarboxylase immobilized on a substrate. The substrate is nickel-sepharose HP with a nickel residue as a reaction group, which binds to a histidine residue. A method for preparing GABA comprises: a step of supplying a substrate solution containing L-glutamic acid and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate(PLP) to the bioreactor; a step of preparing GABA; and a step of collecting GABA. |
