abstract The present invention relates to a composition for inducing apoptosis comprising KAISO protein as an active ingredient, and to an agent for inhibiting or treating damage caused by genotoxicity. More specifically, a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 It relates to a composition for inducing apoptosis comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding an amino acid sequence of (KAISO protein) or SEQ ID NO: 2 as an active ingredient, and a composition for inhibiting or treating damage due to genotoxicity. The present invention provides the function of KAISO as a master regulator of the p53 pathway associated with cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, and traps KAISO in the cytoplasm by p120ctn and a low molecular weight anticancer agent that can strongly induce KAISO. In this case, a method of treating cancer may be provided by securing an inhibitor of the interaction of KAISO-p120ctn. In addition, the present invention can provide a composition for inducing apoptosis comprising a KAISO protein as an active ingredient and a composition for inhibiting or treating damage caused by genotoxicity.
