titleOfInvention Grafting Methods to Improve Chromatography Medium Performance
abstract The present invention is directed to an improved method of grafting a polymer extender onto porous substrates having diffusive pores used in protein separation that do not fill or limit diffusion therethrough. Altering the grafting conditions and / or monomer composition results in a porous substrate having a grafted polymer extender with increased protein binding capacity and resin selectivity, thereby improving the protein separation efficacy of the substrate. The grafted polymer extender provides a substrate having significant binding capacity at higher conductivity. The present invention also provides kits and methods for grafting using polymeric extenders onto porous resin substrates with diffusing pores.
