Optimized liquid phase oxidation method |
abstract |
The present invention relates to an optimized method and apparatus for more efficient and economical liquid phase oxidation of oxidizable compounds. This liquid phase oxidation is carried out in bubble column reactors which provide a very efficient reaction at relatively low temperatures. If the oxidizable compound is para-xylene and the product from the oxidation reaction is crude terephthalic acid (CTA), then by a more economical technique than can be used to produce CTA by conventional high temperature oxidation processes The CTA product can be purified and separated. |
