The present invention forms the cutting insert by forming only the cutting edge of the cutting insert of SiC whisker reinforced ceramic, and brazing it to the shank through the active solder to configure the cutting insert, thereby increasing the toughness of the SiC whisker reinforced ceramic without limiting the shape of the cutting insert or excessive cost. The present invention relates to a cutting insert capable of exhibiting excellent cutting performance due to over-strength. The cutting insert includes a cutting edge portion made of SiC whisker-reinforced ceramic and a shank portion made of cemented carbide, a summit, or ceramic, wherein the cutting edge portion is formed by using an active solder. It is brazed to the shank portion, characterized in that the whiskers are arranged randomly on the cutting edge portion. |
